Dining sustainably with La Madonna Melbourne

  • Restaurant

Situated on Level 3 of Next Hotel Melbourne, this bar, cocktail lounge and intimate dining space, provides so much more than just food and drink.

Brought to you by renowned chefs Danny Natoli and Adrian Li, their passion for supporting local suppliers and farmers comes to life in their kitchen in the heart of Melbourne city. Danny is heavily inspired by his Italian heritage and his long line of experience including venues such as Zia Rina’s Cucina where he was co-owner and Neptune Food and Wine as head chef. Adrian's journey first took him to the IT industry before he found his passion and love of food again as Executive Chef at Rina’s, Tokyo Tina and Saigon Sally.

From their differences, comes a connection like no other, and the two have a synergy that allows them to quickly and resourcefully gather top-quality ingredients and develop dishes that make your tastebuds sing with joy. The result? A menu that changes weekly as they flow through the best local produce, allowing the menu to be led by what's in season, rather than what's expected.

When exploring what's on offer you'll find fruit and vegetables from market gardeners, sustainably grown grass-fed beef, and dry-aged ducks from gamekeepers in Western Victoria.

And now for the liquid sensation to perfectly enhance your meal. A focus on small-scale wineries with minimum intervention is evident in the wine cellar, with bottles sourced locally and from overseas (a few Italian wines making the cut with Danny's Sicilian heritage). But the drinks don't stop there. The Barrel Room serves as a base for new inventions and creations routinely added to their ever-evolving cocktail list.

With cocktails and spirits that can't be found anywhere else, La Madonna’s team barrel ages some of their best to bring out unique flavours, providing a bespoke taste experience with every visit.
Relax as a barrel is decanted on the table in front of you, or request for something to be barrel-aged, and experience the magic of the craft first-hand.

Artisan produce, unique beverages and a drive for sustainable cooking make La Madonna an Italian-inspired restaurant that goes beyond the expected. You’ll find dishes such as smoky ox-tongue skewers with salsa verde, crisp chicken-wing parmigiana and figs with pine nuts, spiced leatherwood honey and gorgonzola. A menu tweaked to every season, so you can taste what the Melbourne region and beyond has to offer.
